 You turn the switch on that is located on the bottom of the toy. 
You just move your hand closer to the Emoji helicopter and it will fly up if you lower your hand it will fly lower. 
To turn it off quickly and carefully grab the Emoji helicopter and flip power switch to the off position. 
This is made for ages 6 and up and flies up to 15 ft. It uses a USB charger and is made for indoor use.
